The Australian Global Talent Independent Program is a streamlined visa pathway that aims to attract highly skilled individuals with expertise in specific targeted sectors to come and work in Australia permanently. It is a part of Australia's Global Talent Program that identifies and attracts global talent to Australia to drive innovation and support the growth of key industries.
Pathways
The Global Talent Independent Program is designed for highly skilled individuals with a track record of excellence in one of seven key target sectors: agtech, space and advanced manufacturing, fintech, energy and mining, medtech, cybersecurity, and digital. Applicants must be able to demonstrate exceptional talent and international recognition in their field, as well as the ability to contribute to the growth of the Australian economy.
To apply for the program, candidates must first be nominated by an Australian organization or individual with a national reputation in their field. Alternatively, they may be nominated by a government agency or state or territory authority. Once nominated, applicants will be invited to apply for the Global Talent visa and will be assessed by the Department of Home Affairs.
Validity and Financial Requirements
Successful applicants under the Global Talent Independent Program will be granted a permanent visa that allows them and their family members to live, work, and study in Australia indefinitely. They will also be eligible for Australian citizenship after meeting the residency requirements.
There are no financial requirements specific to the Global Talent Independent Program, but applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have the financial means to support themselves and their dependents in Australia.
Obligations
Once granted a Global Talent visa, applicants must comply with Australian laws and fulfill their obligations as Australian citizens or permanent residents. This includes paying taxes, obeying Australian laws, and respecting the rights and freedoms of others. They must also maintain their skills and expertise in their field of expertise and continue to contribute to the growth and development of the Australian economy.
