Every year on the 1st of July the Australian government announces changes in their Visa Application Charges (VACs). This year is no different and visa applicants can expect to pay around 7.75 per cent more for most visa starting Monday, 1st July 2019. Making the decision to immigrate and applying for a visa can be a drawn out process. For this reason we suggest that if you are planning on obtaining an Australian visa you start the paperwork as soon as possible to avoid next year’s increase.
The cost of your visa is dependent on the date your visa application reached Australia’s immigration department. If there is a price increase between the date you lodged your application and the date your application was received the new price will apply to your application. If however your application has been received and is already being processed you will still be charged the rate before yesterday’s increase kicked in. In other words the 1 July 2018 – 30 June 2019 fee.
Here’s what you can expect to pay
The visa application charge is the amount of money in Australian dollars (AUD) that must be paid for a visa application. Your immigration consultant will discuss with you exactly when and how much you should pay.
