If you were planning at setting down roots in Australia, Canberra should be at the top of your list of cities to consider. This is according to reports in one of America’s most respected publications Canberra might just be the easiest place in the world to live.

A recent report issued by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, and published in the New York Times, suggests that ACT is the place you want to be.

The report ranked 362 regions of its 34 member nations according to nine measures of well-being and ACT topped the list. But if you happened to live in NSW or Queensland don’t fret, they among six Australian states made it onto the top 10 list of best places to live.

This means that Australia dominated the top 10 which also features Norway and American states/ territories New Hampshire and Minnesota.

The list gave gold to Australia ahead of Norway, Canada, Sweden and the United States in the country rakings while Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Turkey and Mexico offered the most difficult living conditions.

The list scored each of the member countries, regions and territories on nine measures which would be important in making live, well liveable, or pretty treacherous.

The list consisted of education, jobs, income, safety, health, environment, civic engagement, access to housing and broadband availability.

The website lists the following 10 facts as support of why Canberra could be the coolest place to live.

The Australian National University is one of the top two universities in Australia, and rates among the top 25 universities in the world – beating America’s famous UCLA by 12 places.
