Luring Tech professionals from across the globe including South Africa

The US, Australia and Canada topped the list of most attractive places to move to, followed by France, Germany, New Zealand and Spain, according to the survey published by recruiter Dice.

Luring Tech Professionals From Across The Globe Including South Africa

“Tech professionals fully recognise the highly transferable nature of their skills,” Dice’s marketing director in the UK and continental Europe Jamie Bowler said. “As a result, tech professionals are often more open than other professionals to the concept of moving – whether to improve their career or their lifestyle.”

This trend mirrors in other countries too with not only Brits wanting to explore a better future in Australia and South Africans following suite.

Victoria, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth all has some of the largest information and communications technology (ICT) industries in Australia and includes telecommunications services; computer software; analysis and business services; wholesaling; manufacturing; internet publishing, consulting and provision; and computer hardware and maintenance. For this reason the Australian Federal Government has consistently listed occupations in the IT and ITC fields among those on the country’s SkillSelect or Critical Skills list.

According to the Australian Computer Society, the booming digital economy continues to lead to the creation of thousands of new ICT jobs but Australia does not have enough candidates to fill these positions.

As this occupation is listed on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) and the Consolidated Sponsored Occupations List (CSOL) it is listed as an occupation in demand in Australia, it is possible to apply for any of the visas in the General Skilled Migration (GSM) Program.

Visas in this category include the Skilled Independent 189, the Skilled Nominated 190, the Skilled Regional Nominated 489 or the Skilled Regional Sponsored 489 visas. In addition there is also the opportunity of applying for a number of employer sponsored visas if you have a firm offer of employment.

The biggest factor sending tech workers overseas are lifestyle-related or a better work and life balance, rather than financial incentives, said Dice’s Bowler.
