Canada is pulling applicants bi-weekly for Express Entry draws to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA). Alternative bi-weekly draws are the Provincial Nomination programs. These programs are designed to encourage skilled workers into specific provinces. Once you have received a PNP invite you can score up to an extra 600 points for your Comprehensive Ranking Score. Considering the last Canadian Express Entry was 494.
An ideal candidate currently for Express Entry draws would be under 32 with a master’s degree or higher and a CLB 7 level for English language test (score of 7 in reading, writing and speaking and an 8 in listening), however many people have missed this opportunity to score high enough points, so we, therefore, consider an alternative option like the PNP if your profession meets the requirements.
Provincial Nomination Programs:
- Alberta
- British Columbia
- Manitoba
- New Brunswick
- Newfoundland and Labrador
- Nova Scotia
- Ontario
- Prince Edward Island
- Saskatchewan
- Northwest Territories
- Yukon
Currently, the IRCC allocates a certain number of spaces through these PNPs, with an emphasis on being targeted at these numbers to increase. Canadian Immigration minister Sean Fraser mentions the need to increase PNP allocations due to the settlement capacity goals. The new immigration plan for 2023 – 2025 is expected to welcome 500 000 newcomers into the country, however out of that number the majority of invites are being sent through PNPs. Canadian staff are being recruited to speed up the administration of these PNP invites.
Canada’s provinces, territories and federal governments share the responsibility of immigration. Quebec has had great success with nearly 90% of their economic class being immigrants, provinces like Ontario support this system.
