New Regulations forbid first time applicants from applying in South Africa for a temporary long stay visa
Since the new immigration regulations have come into effect, many foreigners have misinterpreted the new regulation which forbids first time applicants from changing their status in South Africa. Our consultants have received many calls over the past week concerning this new regulation and hence, we decided to clear the confusion surrounding this issue.
The new regulation only applies to foreigners who currently hold a visit visa or medical visa in South Africa. I.E If a foreigner enters South Africa with a visit visa/medical visa and would like to change their current visa to a temporary long stay visa, then the submission needs to be submitted abroad at the Responsible South African Embassy for your country.
The new regulation does not apply to any foreigners who currently hold a temporary long stay visa in South Africa. I.E If you currently hold a spousal visa and need to renew your visa, then the Department of Home Affairs welcomes you to apply for your extension in South Africa. Therefore you would not need to leave South Africa and apply abroad at your responsible embassy.
If your temporary long stay visa is up for a renewal, please don’t hesitate to contact New World immigration to assist you.
