No first time submissions to be made in South Africa
Are you thinking about submitting an application to the Department of Home Affairs on a Visit Visa in South Africa? If your answer is yes then you need to hurry up and submit while you have the right to do so. As most of us heard that Home Affairs are set to introduce new immigration rules in 2014, which one of these drafted laws would no longer allow first time submissions in South Africa. So this means if you currently in South Africa on a visit visa and would like to switch to a temporary residence permit, then this option would no longer be available to you as you would need to apply abroad in your country of origin.
At this point we know you are panicking and freaking out but you have 2 options available to you at this point in time;
- You submit your application in the quickest time frame, available before the law is implemented.
- If the law has been past you would need to return home and submit your application abroad then enter the Republic with your temporary residence permit.
This law would not affect you if you are currently on a temporary residence permit. The new law will affect foreigners currently on visit visa, wanting to apply for a temporary residence permit in South Africa.
