Permanent Resident Sticker Discontinued by the Department of Home Affairs
The Department of Home Affairs has decided to terminate the use of permanent resident stickers and thus making the lives of many foreigners difficult in South Africa. Home Affairs has tweaked the security of permanent residency certificates and therefore decided that the use of stickers would no longer apply in South Africa.
The new permanent residence certificate will be more credible and reliable to applicable authorities due to the distinctive security features which will be added.
Foreigners will no longer be allowed to use the permanent resident stickers to enter and exit the Republic of South Africa. The issuance of permanent residency permits will only be done electronically and this means that foreign nationals would need to make use of their actual PR certificates when travelling.
