What is a Good Cause letter
The Department of Home Affairs would not accept you application if your temporary residence permit is expiring and has less than 30 days left on your permit/visa. Many foreigners embark on their journey to Home Affairs, only to queue for hours and have their application refused by the immigration officer.
The Department of Home Affairs will only accept your application, if you include a good cause letter which explains the reasons why your application has not been submitted 30 days prior to your permit/visa expiring. This will save you loads of cash, instead of having to leave South Africa and having to put in leave at work just to avoid being illegal in South Africa.
